Another major endorsement for Laura Friedman today – the Sierra Club has joined in supporting Friedman for California State Assembly, District 43.
“Laura Friedman is an extraordinarily effective environmental leader at the local level,” stated Kathryn Phillips, Director, Sierra Club California. “She has led the effort to bring tough new sustainable building and energy efficiency standards to the City of Glendale. She’s been a champion for increasing rooftop solar, and she’s fought to restore the L.A. River, to add parklands in the Verdugo Mountains, and to ban the use of plastic bags. Laura Friedman will be a powerful environmental advocate in the State Legislature.”
Friedman has already been endorsed by the California League of Conservation Voters, and was named “Environmental Champion” by CLCV in 2014 for her strong leadership. Glendale was awarded the Excellence in Green Region Initiative by the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) for its Greener Glendale Plan.
In addition to her work on the Glendale City Council, Friedman has fought for far-reaching water conservation measures as a member of the Board of the Metropolitan Water Department of Southern California.
“As a committed and lifelong environmentalist, I am thrilled to have the support of the Sierra Club,” responded Friedman. “I look forward to working with them to keep California at the forefront of the world in path-breaking environmental legislation.”
Democrat Laura Friedman is also endorsed by numerous environmental leaders including State Senator Fran Pavley, activist and actor Ed Begley, Jr., RL Miller, Chair, California Democratic Party*, Environmental Caucus and Madelyn Glickfeld, Director Institute of the Environment and Sustainability*.
