QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCELaura Friedman has held executive positions as a film producer with oversight of a slate of films with combined production budgets exceeding $85 million. She is currently an entrepreneur with a successful on-line antiques and decorative arts business. In addition, she has served in leadership roles in a number of non-profit community based organizations. She was appointed three times to the City of Glendale's Design Review Board, where her fairness and decision-making skills have helped build consensus on the Board and garner respect across the community. Laura understands the needs of small and large businesses, homeowners, and developers, from first hand experience. COMMUNITY AND CIVIC EXPERIENCEGlendale Garden Fundraising Tour; After undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Laura originated the concept of a Garden Tour cancer fundraiser and brought the Glendale Historical Society and Glendale Adventist Medical Center together to produce this event, which raised $35,000 to establish a new fitness program which is free to any cancer survivor. Her husband, Guillaume Lemoine, is a professional landscape designer, who sits on the Board of the Green Glendale Coalition, in which capacity he is helping to establish new community gardens. Laura and Guillaume live in a home in northwest Glendale with their 15 year old German Shepherd. They maintain a drought tolerant landscape and an organic vegetable garden. Laura is an experienced equestrian. Guillaume and Laura are currently in the process of adopting their first child. |
