In a major development in the hotly contested Assembly District 43 race, Assemblymember Mike Gatto today endorsed Glendale Councilmember Laura Friedman to succeed him in the State Assembly.
Assemblymember Gatto stated:
“I am proud to support Laura Friedman for State Assembly. Laura is a talented local leader who has led efforts to protect neighborhoods, preserve open space and bring thousands of good jobs to her city. She took on the gun lobby and banned gun shows on city property. And she is a leader in the fight to increase the minimum wage. Laura Friedman will be an outstanding representative for our neighborhoods in the State Assembly.”
Mike Gatto has served as the Assemblymember in District 43 for six years. Currently Chair of the Utilities and Commerce Committee, Gatto has served in a number of leadership roles, including Assembly Speaker Pro-Tempore and Chair of the Appropriations Committee. His achievements include major accomplishments in consumer protection, water policy, and efforts to curb child abuse and sexual assault.
“I am deeply honored to have the trust and support of Mike Gatto,” stated Laura Friedman. “As I walk door-to-door throughout the District, I meet many people who tell me that Assemblymember Gatto has been extraordinarily responsive and effective. I will work hard to continue his legacy.”
Laura Friedman is also endorsed by State Senator Carol Liu, who represents the vast majority of the 43rd District, along with scores of local elected Mayors, City Council and School Board members.
