American Federation of Teachers, Local 1521, joins Laura Friedman’s team.

The American Federation of Teachers, Local 1521, representing professors and faculty of the nine campuses of the Los Angeles Community College District, has endorsed Laura Friedman for Assembly in District 43.
Joanne Waddell, President of AFT 1521, stated “Laura Friedman will fight for affordable higher education and to renew California’s historic commitment to quality public education. Local educators, teachers and professors are proud to endorse Laura Friedman for State Assembly.”
AFT 1521 is the largest community college faculty local in California, representing over 4,000 full-time professors and adjunct professors.
They join a growing list of critical organizations supporting Friedman, including the Sierra Club California; California League of Conservation Voters; California Nurses Association; American Federation of State, County and Municipal Workers California (AFSCME); Communication Workers of American, Southern California District Council; Emily’s List; and Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project of Los Angeles County.
Laura is also endorsed by numerous community leaders including State Senator Carol Liu, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Los Angeles Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, and former Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.
