The nation’s oldest and most effective independent organization dedicated to individual liberty and building economic and social justice at home and abroad has endorsed Laura Friedman for State Assembly in AD43.
The Southern California Chapter of Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) stated:
Laura Friedman is a leader that has represented the progressive agenda and will continue to do so as a member of the State Assembly. She has led the fight for $15 an hour in Glendale as a City Councilmember, stood up to the National Rifle Association by banning gun shows from being held on city property, and she will continue to fight for universal healthcare. Southern California Americans for Democratic Action is proud to endorse Laura Friedman.
ADA was founded in 1947 by Eleanor Roosevelt, John Kenneth Galbraith, Walter Reuther, Arthur Schlesinger and Reinhold Niebuhr to fight to keep liberal, New Deal values alive. They have played an important role in organizing grassroots support for every progressive legislative advance since then. Past Presidents of the national ADA have included such progressive heroes as George McGovern, Barney Frank, John Lewis and Paul Wellstone. Currently the ADA President is former Congressmember Lynn Woolsey.
Laura Friedman is proudly upholding the progressive banner in the AD43 race. Currently, major corporate interests, including the California Real Estate PAC and California Apartment Association have undertaken a massive Independent Expenditure effort in an attempt to defeat Friedman.
Friedman has also been endorsed by Sierra Club, California; California League of Conservation Voters, California Nurses Association and Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project, Los Angeles County.
